Please support the work of the Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) and the Asian American Law Fund of New York (AALFNY) to raise awareness of anti-Asian hate and violence, to advocate for solutions, and to ensure legal justice for the Asian American community. Here are some of the projects AALFNY funds:
AABANY's Anti-Asian Violence Task Force
Contributions to AALFNY benefit the work of the Anti-Asian Violence Task Force. The Task Force’s activities include its Hate Eradication Active Response Team (HEART) which supports community members who have suffered a bias incident or hate crime and advocating for reform in hate crimes legislation.
AABANY’s Pro Bono Legal Clinic
AABANY’s Pro Bono Legal Clinic provides members of the APA community who have limited English proficiency (“LEP”) meaningful access to justice. The Clinic has helped nearly 2,000 LEP individuals in New York through its walk-in clinics in Manhattan’s Chinatown, Brooklyn’s Bay Ridge, and Queen's Flushing neighborhoods.
Public Interest Scholarships
AALFNY’s Public Interest Scholarship Program awards $5,000 scholarships to law students with a demonstrated commitment to work in a public interest fellowship during their summers. The purpose of the award is to assist law students with their tuition while encouraging them to use their legal knowledge and training to benefit the Asian American community in New York and to foster commitment by law students to public service to the Asian American community in New York. The AALFNY Public Interest Scholarship Program has funded more than 60 scholarships.
Asian Voices Video
Voices Against Anti-Asian Hate brings awareness to discrimination against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) through personal accounts of survivors and victims of race-related attacks and activists fighting anti-Asian violence. Through these narratives, the film delivers the message of the dire need for change and for larger conversations regarding hatred against all vulnerable communities. The video was co-produced by AALFNY
