BMC Rock Cobbler 12.0
About
The Rock Cobbler is a stupidly hard thrill ride bordering on a race. It was conceived by madmen, on barstools late into the night. Gravel Ride? Sorta…
“Cobbler” planning started in the fall of 2012 on a cow trail, when 3 buddies wanted to showcase a very mixed terrain and riding style they loved. Rock Cobbler 1.0 was launched in February of 2013 with 40 riders. Since then, the event's reputation for dishing out a punishing and shenanigan riddled adventure has grown and attracted riders from literally around the world. Now in our 12th year, this version shall be no different!
The Rock Cobbler also features a Pebbler route and a Boulder route. The Pebbler is a shorter version of the OG and the Boulder is bigger and longer. All routes are much less of a true gravel event and much more of a wild adventure. The routes vary each year from 70-85ish miles for the Cobbler, 40-50ish miles for the Pebbler and up to 115mi for the Boulder. Elevation varies from
3--5000ft for the Pebbler, up to +8700ft for the Cobbler and as much as 12,000ft for the Boulder. Famous for its vertical hike-a-bike sections, the multi-surface mele’ consists of county asphalt roads, trails, single track, technical challenges, a ridiculous amount of punchy steep climbs, rolling hills, a river, a creek, a cowboy bar and some creative shenanigan’s thrown in for good times.
The Rock Cobbler always presents finishers and attempters with a special gift that is kept secret until the ride is over. There are no categories, but we do award the first male and female finisher of each route with an extra special prize. For those who have come and conquered, or passed out trying, they truly understand the Cobbler quote: “When you finish (if you finish) you will know WHY it’s called the Rock Cobbler!
As is the tradition the final routes are announced the week of the event.
EVENT DETAILS, IMPORTANT!--please read
The Cobbler and its sub routes are very demanding. While we lay on the fun, shenanigans and goofiness of some sections, it's a damn tough ride. YOU GOTTA TRAIN and don't bite off more than you can chew! And above all, SAFETY FIRST!
