Silver City Century
About
Silver City is the gateway to some of the best gravel in the the Loess Hills. Connected via the Wabash Trace nature trail, you can get from Council Bluffs in just 14 miles of beautiful rails to trails covered in shaded tree cover. Great for a good zone 2 workout before you hit the first 5 miles of rollers on the Silver City Century route. From there you get to visit exotic Iowa locations like, Macedonia, Henderson, and Willow Slough along a network of Class B and minimum maintenance roads. If the weather behaves (which is frankly a 50/50 chance) you'll get an amazing tailwind at some point and some head winds or cross winds that might have you questioning your life choices. But, at the end of the route there is guaranteed to be some great food and friendly faces welcoming you back to downtown Silver City.
Included in your race pace registration:
- Post-race meal ticket
- Number plate and timing
- Clearly marked route, downloadable queue sheet, and GPX files
- Aid station with water and snacks
- Event photography
- Some good memories and fun!

Donate to Support the Dream TeamIn 1996, a concern for disadvantaged and at-risk youth caused a small group of Des Moines cyclists to discuss how these youngsters could participate in RAGBRAI. Working as a grassroots organization, they successfully obtained equipment, recruited, and trained youth to participate in Dream Team activities in1997. The Dream Team is a five month program that partners youth with adult mentors to provide a unique opportunity to build relationships, achieve personal growth, and learn life skills. The program culminates with a week long bicycle ride across Iowa and the emotional experience of riding from the Missouri to the Mississippi River. The young adults in the program build confidence and self esteem while learning that healthy goals can be attained with sufficient planning and preparation.
