About
The Amateur Mile
There’s no race quite like the mile; Whole lifetimes pass by in those 4, 6 or 10 minutes it takes to lap a track four times. We don’t believe that there’s a truer test of speed, endurance, and mental fortitude than this iconic distance. This year, we’re returning to our flagship communities, hosting races in London, Boston, and NYC and offering free group training opportunities across all three cities in the run-up to the big meet.
Like our Twilight 5000 Series, these community events are built to be exhilarating experiences, with pacers for all levels, an announcer calling every heat, and fans and fellow athletes cheering trackside. We look forward to seeing you at Tracksmith’s take on an iconic track and field event: the mile.
“It’s not even the race itself that I love most, but the variety of training that is required. You get to work on a different energy system each day, and I never get bored. It encompasses every element of running: speed, endurance, power, agility, tactical nous and pace judgment. I guess that’s why I’ve been doing it so long.”
