Glenwood Gravel
About
Glenwood started it all. It was this part of the Loess Hills where the idea of a series of races across Iowa on the 60,000 miles of gravel roads was born. We can take you back to the bend on Pathfield Rd. where it became clear that more people needed to ride their bikes in Mills County and discovery how beautiful and unique this land was.
Historically a September event, we're moving it to August to make more room for Homecoming and to make it easier to sign-up for the Soldier Cutoff Hillduro in Pisgah, IA. We're also looking at giving this race a more “home town feel” and exploring areas where you've never been before. To be sure, this race has had a number of surprises since it started in 2020… we plan to keep the excitement going.
Included in your race pace registration:
- Post-race meal ticket
- Number plate and timing
- Clearly marked route, downloadable queue sheet, and GPX files
- Aid station with water and snacks
- Event photography
- Some good memories and fun!

Donate to Support the Dream TeamIn 1996, a concern for disadvantaged and at-risk youth caused a small group of Des Moines cyclists to discuss how these youngsters could participate in RAGBRAI. Working as a grassroots organization, they successfully obtained equipment, recruited, and trained youth to participate in Dream Team activities in1997. The Dream Team is a five month program that partners youth with adult mentors to provide a unique opportunity to build relationships, achieve personal growth, and learn life skills. The program culminates with a week long bicycle ride across Iowa and the emotional experience of riding from the Missouri to the Mississippi River. The young adults in the program build confidence and self esteem while learning that healthy goals can be attained with sufficient planning and preparation.
