About
The Overland (bike) is a 55-mile (distances fluctuate based on years/course) dirt road bicycle race featuring close to 7,000 feet of climbing, eight sectors of Class4 Roads (unmaintained ancient public through-ways), two sag stops, a magnificently scenic route and an awesome afterparty. It’s the ultimate overland adventure ride. Open dirt roads, amazing scenery and an epic course unlike any you’ve ever ridden before, all within a beautiful Vermont pastoral setting.
The purpose of this race is to promote the wonderful world of overland adventure riding and to benefit the Reading/West Windsor Food Shelf, Ascutney Outdoors and WAMBA–all integral organizations in the event’s host towns of Reading/West Windsor/Woodstock.

- Registering for a Vermont Overland event is a commitment to yourself, our charities, the local West Windsor community, and our Vermont Overland Staff. We take this very seriously and have developed our registration and no-refund policies to around this fact.
- Vermont Overland does not process or handle refunds and reserves the right to postpone, cancel or defer the event in any way shape, or form without issuing refunds whatsoever. However, as with all Vermont Overland events, if you can’t make it, you may privately assign your registration to whomever you like (this requires you to find a rider on your own and handle payment on your own) or send your spot to the next person in line on the waitlist (this only applies to categories that currently have people on a waitlist – there are no guarantees that our waitlists will be populated).

What is The OVERLAND TROPHY?
More sports are better than one. Challenge ignites growth. Physical and physiological boundaries are meant to be broken. The Overland TROPHY is all about being a well-rounded athlete with the ability to traverse a landscape efficiently no matter the mode. We want this to challenge you, push your boundaries, and discover the fun in each unique sport.
We’re pleased to introduce a leaderboard for the participants who are competing in both of our events: The Overland (bike) and The Overland TRAIL (run).
How is it scored?
The OVERLAND TROPHY will be a leaderboard based on combined overall time for participants who finish both events. This is a new thing for us, and we’re excited to bring this unique overall leaderboard to our events.
What are the prizes?
Mostly bragging rights, but also an awards ceremony presented after The Overland (bike) on August 24th with custom Vermont Overland prizes. We’ll be recognizing the overall top-3 women, men, and non-binary participants who complete The Overland TROPHY. Our results database will have categorizations for ages as well.
How do I Participate?
All you have to do is complete both events, which means you need to be signed up for both events. Registration day for each event opens on New Year’s Day at 9am EST.

The mission of Ascutney Outdoors is to advocate for and maintain accessibility of low-impact trails and structures used for human powered recreational activities in the townships of the Mt.
