About
Long, long ago, when the earth was still quite young, the land we now call Iowa was flat, oh so flat. It stretched out like a giant pancake, with nary a hill to be seen. The mighty glaciers, like giant ice bulldozers, had rumbled down from the north, flattening everything in their path. They sculpted the land, carving out valleys and pushing up mountains, leaving their icy fingerprints across the world.
But something magical happened in Northeast Iowa. As the glaciers advanced, they inexplicably parted, like a curtain being drawn open, leaving a pocket of land untouched and unflattened. This became the Driftless Area, a place where the rolling hills and valleys remained, a hidden gem amidst the vast plains.
Now, fast forward many, many years. In this untouched land, nestled amongst the winding rivers and streams, tiny wildflowers began to bloom, carpeting the hills in a patchwork of vibrant colors. The forests grew tall and lush, providing shelter for all sorts of creatures, from the soaring eagles to the scampering squirrels. And the rivers, oh, the rivers! They danced and sparkled, their waters teeming with life.
This is where we invite you to come join us for a day of riding and racing along the trout steams and windy valleys of the Waukon Driftless region. You've never ridden gravel like this in Iowa, we guarantee.

Donate to Support the Dream TeamIn 1996, a concern for disadvantaged and at-risk youth caused a small group of Des Moines cyclists to discuss how these youngsters could participate in RAGBRAI. Working as a grassroots organization, they successfully obtained equipment, recruited, and trained youth to participate in Dream Team activities in1997. The Dream Team is a five month program that partners youth with adult mentors to provide a unique opportunity to build relationships, achieve personal growth, and learn life skills. The program culminates with a week long bicycle ride across Iowa and the emotional experience of riding from the Missouri to the Mississippi River. The young adults in the program build confidence and self esteem while learning that healthy goals can be attained with sufficient planning and preparation.
